Dr. Kevin Tay is a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at OncoCare Cancer Centre with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of both common and complex cancers. Dr. Tay is American Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. Recognised for his clinical expertise, research accomplishments, and patient-centred approach, he provides evidence-based, personalised cancer care across a broad range of solid tumours and haematological malignancies. This includes women’s cancers such as breast and gynaecological cancers, lung cancers, melanoma, brain cancers, soft tissue and bone sarcomas, as well as haematological malignancies such as lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and leukaemia, including cancers in people living with HIV.
Dr. Tay obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore, School of Medicine, before completing his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Hawaiʻi. He subsequently pursued fellowship training in Medical Oncology at the prestigious National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States, where he had the privilege of training alongside internationally renowned leaders in oncology. His mentors included Dr. Sandra (Sandy) Swain, a world authority in breast cancer and former President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology; Dr. Giuseppe Giaccone, internationally recognised for his contributions to thoracic oncology and former Chair of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Lung Cancer Cooperative Group; and Dr. Elise Kohn, a leading expert in gynaecological cancer therapeutics at the NIH and an influential member of the US Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG). In addition to his clinical fellowship, Dr. Tay spent two years conducting translational cancer research in Lymphoma at the NIH under the mentorship of internationally acclaimed physician-scientists Dr. Wyndham Wilson, Dr. Louis Staudt, and Dr. Elaine Jaffe.
Following his return to Singapore in 2010, Dr. Tay joined the Department of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), where he combined specialist clinical practice with translational cancer research. As a core member of one of Singapore’s leading oncology research team, he contributed to work that was recognised through the award of a prestigious National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Centre Grant. Dr Tay has also published widely in numerous journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Genetics, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, The Lancet, Leukemia & Lymphoma and Seminars in Hematology. His ongoing commitment to clinical research at Oncocare Cancer Centre allows him to remain at the forefront of emerging therapies, molecular diagnostics, and evolving standards of cancer care, ensuring his patients benefit from the latest advances in oncology.
Dr. Tay is equally dedicated to serving the wider community. He volunteers as Director of the Blood Transfusion Service at Assisi Hospice, supporting patients requiring palliative care, and serves as Chairman of the Board of the Children’s Cancer Foundation Singapore. These leadership roles reflect his longstanding commitment to improving cancer care and supporting patients beyond the hospital setting.
